On June 14th, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will release the box office hit Hitch, a romantic comedy starring Will Smith, Eva Mendes, Kevin James, Amber Valletta, Michael Rapaport, and Adam Arkin. Will Smith's "Hitch" Hitchens is a New York date doctor who coaches guys in serious need of a personality transplant, only to find that his techniques fail with the woman he desires, Sara (Eva Mendes). Released to the motion picture theaters on February 11th - just in time for Valentine's Day - the film comes to DVD only four months later. The widescreen film will be presented in anamorphic video and with Dolby Digital 5.1 (careful, there will also be a full screen version released the same day). There are no supplements listed yet on the official Sony press site, but I'd expect a few. The SRP will be $28.95.

Biting

On June 21st, Buena Vista Home Entertainment is bringing Cursed to DVD in two forms: the PG-13 rated theatrical release and an unrated director's cut complete with commentary by director Wes Craven and screenwriter Kevin Williamson. A rather eclectic cast that includes Christina Ricci, Portia de Rossi, and Shannon Elizabeth find themselves ankle deep in bloody goings on as werewolves stalk and . . . Details about the release are sketchy at this point, but I'd expect the usual presentation of anamorphic video and Dolby Digital. Bonus features are reported to include several featurettes: "Behind The Fangs: the Making of Cursed;" "The Cursed Effects;" and, "Becoming a Werewolf" focusing on Rick Baker. The SRP will likely be $29.95.

Also on June 21st, Paramount Home Entertainment will release Coach Carter, the warm story of a high school basketball coach who puts academics ahead of sports, regardless of his team's success on the court. Samuel L. Jackson stars. As with Hitch, both anamorphic widescreen and full screen versions will be released. Each will have Dolby Digital 5.1 mixes. Expect a couple of featurettes and some deleted scenes. The SRP will be $29.98
