On May 10th, Geneon Entertainment will release Appleseed Special Edition. Based on the manga by Shirow Masamune (Ghost In the Shell), directed by Shinji Aramaki, and produced by Fumihiko Sori, this critically acclaimed film depicts humanity's last survivors in Earth's last city, Olympus, after a devastating worldwide holocaust. Humankind survives with the aid of Bioroids, clones that make up half the city's population, but covert forces threaten to jeopardize the peace. It falls to Deunan Knute, an unusually capable warrior, to find the MacGuffin that will end the conflict, the Appleseed. The DVD will offer an anamorphic transfer encoded directly from an HD master, Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1 English tracks, a director and producer's commentary, a featurette, character data, mechanical data, an Appleseed glossary, and the film's theatrical trailer. Expect an SRP of $29.98.

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment releases The Green Butchers on May 17th with an SRP of $29.95. The DVD will feature a 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer and Danish audio in Dolby Digital 5.1. English subtitles will be provided for the linguistically challenged. Sony's official press site doesn't list any supplements for this release.

Buena Vista Home Entertainment releases the droll comedy about an FBI sting wrapped in a film production. The Last Shot is due on May 10th with an SRP of $29.95. Supplements will include an Inspired By Actual Events featurette that tells the true story behind the movie, deleted scenes with introductions by Hollywood producer Robert Evans, a commentary with director Jeff Nathanson and Matthew Broderick, and a Joan Cusack montage.
