Warner TV on DVD; Universal thrills; Columbia catalog

Man of Steel - 12:01am

More new TV on DVD announcements from Warner Home Video, kicked off by Friends: The Complete Eight Season. Due on November 9th, this four-disc set will once again sport 4:3 full screen transfers and remastered Dolby Digital 5.0 surround tracks, plus audio commentaries on three episodes, two featurettes, an interactive map and episode synopses. Expect a list price of $59.95.

Next up is Smallville: The Complete Third Season, arriving on November 16th. Presented in remastered 1.78:1 anamorphic widescreen and Dolby 2.0 surround, extras include audio commentary on two episodes, three featurettes, deleted scenes, bloopers and ROM extras to be announced. List price will be $59.95.

Hellraisers - 12:01am

Just in from Universal Studios Home Video are four little-seen or straight-to-DVD flicks all making their debuts on November 16th. Check out the action flicks Control Room, Riverworld, Clive Barker Presents Saint Sinner, and Dennis Hopper's The Last Ride. All are presented in anamorphic widescreen and Dolby 5.1 surround, with only filmographies and trailers for extras. Expect a list price of $27.95 each, except for The Last Ride, which will go for $14.95.

Roll the Dice - 12:01am

Just in from Columbia TriStar Home Entertainment are two new releases due on November. Making their DVD debuts are the foreign import Facing Windows, and the western Renegade. Both are presented in anamorphic widescreen and Dolby 5.1 surround, and the only extras are bonus trailers. Retail will be $29.95 and $24.95, respectively.

And culled from the vast Columbia catalog is the drama California Split, and the classic comedy The More the Merrier. Presented in anamorphic widescreen and full screen, respectively, the former also includes an audio commentary with cast and crew, and both include trailers. List price will go for $24.95 a pop.
