New releases from Buena Vista, New Line, Lions Gate

Caught in the Rapture - 2:24pm

Just announced by New Line Home Entertainment is a trio of the studio's most requested catalog titles.

Due on November 2nd is the Gus van Sant cult fave Even Cowgirls Get the Blues, plus the religious thriller The Rapture and the acclaimed Australian drama Proof. All will receive the remastered anamorphic widescreen and DTS and Dolby Digital 5.1 treatment. Extras include theatrical trailers on each, plus two separate audio commentaries by director Jocelyn Moorhouse and actor Hugo Weaving and "Martin's Photo Album" slideshow on Proof, and an audio commentary with director Michael Tolkin and cast Mimi Rogers, David Duchovny and Patrick Bauchau on The Rapture. Expect a list price of $19.95 each.

Five from Miramax - 2:24pm

Just in from Buena Vista Home Entertainment is a batch of five new little seen theatrical releases making their way to DVD this fall.

First up on September 28th from Miramax are the heartwarming drama Heartlands, the Skeet Ulrich thriller Track Down, and My Name is Modesty. Each gets the anamorphic widescreen and Dolby Digital 5.1 surround treatment, and extras include theatrical trailers only (Track Down also gets the featurette "Behind The Kevin Mitnick Story"). Retail will list for $29.95 each.

Also from Miramax is the the acclaimed Valentin and the thriller I'm Not Scared, both of which will hit shelves on October 19th. Each is presented in anamorphic widescreen and Dolby Digital 5.1, and include trailers, plus an interview with director Alejandro Agresti on Valentin. Retail will also be $29.95 a pop.

RoboSoldiers - 2:24pm

It may not be Alien Vs. Predator, but how can you argue with Lundgren Vs. Van Damme? On October 19th, Lions Gate Entertainment will unleash yet another of the classic double-dippers, Universal Soldier: Special Edition. This new release will feature a remastered 2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer and Dolby Digital 5.1 surround track, plus audio commentary with director Roland Emmerich and producer Dean Devlin, a featurette, additional behind-the-scenes footage, and theatrical trailers. Retail will go for a mere $19.95.
