Summer wanes...the fun begins. The studios are about to unleash
the torrent of big fall announcements, loaded with the usual lineup
of summer blockbusters, and the first big salvo has just been
fired. While full specs have not yet been announced, DreamWorks
Home Entertainment will unleash the year's biggest box office
hit so far this year, Shrek 2, on November 5th.
Expect many permutations: separate anamorphic widescreen and full
screen two-disc sets loaded with extras, plus a Shrek: The Story
So Far box set (featuring both films, Shrek 3-D and an additional
bonus disc of goodies). Watch for the full details to emerge in

While it can't rival the big green behemoth in popularity, television's
The O.C. is one of the few hits to emerge out
this past year's crop of new small screen dramas. Warner Home
Video will give the show's Complete First Season the full special
edition treatment on October 26th, complete with 1.78:1 anamorphic
widescreen transfers and Dolby 2.0 surround tracks, plus audio
commentary on the pilot episode with creator Josh Schwartz and
producer Stephanie Savage, the "Casting The O.C.", "The
Music of The O.C." and "Inside the Real O.C." featurettes,
deleted scenes, "The O.C. Music Guide," a Season 2 sneak
peek, and more ROM extras to be announced. Retail will be $69.95.

Rounding out today's news, its the latest Walt Disney Treasures
lineup, which will add three titles to the acclaimed collection.
Due on December 7th, The Complete Pluto: Volume 1,
The Mickey Mouse Club and
Mickey Mouse In Black And White: Volume 2 will
each include the usual assortment of shorts, TV episodes, new
making-of featurettes, never-before-seen archival footage, stills
and more. All will be strictly limited editions, and retail for
$32.95 a pop.
