More TV on DVD is on the way from Fox Home Entertainment, who
will debut the critical darling Arrested Development:
The Complete First Season on October 19th. Presented
in 1.78:1 anamorphic widescreen and Dolby 2.0 surround and chock
full of extras, feast upon the creator's unaired pilot, new introductions
by Ron Howard, audio commentary by cast and crew on five episodes,
deleted and extended scenes, original unused songs, outtakes,
the "TV Land: Arrested Development - The Making of a Future
Classic" and "Museum of Television & Radio: Q&A
with Creator Mitchell Hurwitz and the Cast" featurettes,
TV Land awards footage, and easter eggs. List price will be $39.95.
Fox will also debut Cedric the Entertainer Presents:
The Complete Series on October 12th. Featuring 4:3 full
screen transfers and Dolby 2.0 stereo tracks, extras include audio
commentary on select episodes. Retail will also go for $39.95.
Who Slew Auntie Roo? - 2:51pm
Just in from MGM Home Entertainment is their November lineup
of catalog releases, which is rather small by the studio's usual
gangbusters standards. Streeting on November 2nd are the thrillers
The Grissom Gang, The Commissioner,
Last Rites, Mulholland Falls and
Whatever Happened to Aunt Alice?. Each is presented
in anamorphic widescreen (except Last Rites, which is non-anamorphic
only) and include theatrical trailers. Retail will list for $14.95
a pop.

Wrapping up today's news is a gaggle of music announcements.
Hitting DVD on September 28th from Warner Reprise is Depeche
Mode Devotional, the latest two-disc extravaganza from
the electro-pioneers. Recorded live during their 1993 Devotional
tour, the set includes the complete concert with two songs never-before-seen,
presented in 1.66:1 widescreen and Dolby 5.1 and PCM 2.0 stereo,
with a bonus disc featuring all of the behind-the-band concert
projections, the 22-minute MTV "Depeche Mode Rockumentary,"
six music videos, and a 8-minute interview with "visual stylist"
Anton Corbijn. Retail will be $26.95.
Music Video Distributors will unleash Devo: Live in the
Land of the Rising Sun - Japan 2003 on October 5th. The
75-minute concert will feature thirteen tracks presented in 4:3
full screen and Dolby Digital 5.1, plus audio commentary by band
members Mark Mothersbaugh and Gerald V. Casale, backstage footage
and never before seen material from 1981. Retail will be a mere
$14.95.
Next up from BMG Music are five new titles, all debuting on August
10th: Greendale, Soft Cell: Non-Stop
Exotic Video Show, Diego Torres: MTV Unplugged,
Social Distortion: Live In Orange County, Reggae
on the River and Hoy Fiesta Mexicana.
Each is presented in 4:3 full screen and include discographies,
and the Soft Cell, Greendale and Social Distortion sets also include
behind-the-scenes footage, while Reggae on the River boasts additional
performances. Retail is $19.95 a pop, except for the Greendale
and Reggae on the River sets, which will go for $29.95 a pop.
Last but certainly not least, Gene "The Tongue" Simmons
will release his first solo DVD, Speaking in Tongues,
on August on August 10th. A chronicle of the KISS mastermind's
first-ever, no-holds-barred lecture tour of Australia(!?), the
set also includes ten ten never-before-heard Simmons solo songs.
Presented in 4:3 full screen and Dolby 2.0, retail will cost you
$19.95.
