Paramount TV on DVD; 'Clerks' 10th Anniversary SE; New Line action flicks

Paramount Home Entertainment has a slew of new TV on DVD releases to delight you this fall, all loaded with plenty of extras to fill those lonely winter months.

Putting the square in TV on DVD is SpongeBob SquarePants: The Complete Second Season, which hits on October 5th. Boasting 4:3 full screen transfers and Dolby 2.0 surround tracks, extras include seven audio commentaries on select episodes, two storyboard comparisons, "Around The World With SpongeBob SquarePants" and a Script Viewer exclusive for PC users. Retail for this puppy will be $49.95.

Next up is the DVD debut of Keen Eddie: The Complete Series. This "fast-paced" four-disc set includes 1.78:1 anamorphic widescreen transfers and Dolby Digital 5.1 surround tracks. No extras have been announced, and retail will cost you $39.95.

Comedy fans can feast on Strangers with Comedy: The Complete Third Season and Crank Yankers: Season One - Uncensored. Each is presented in 4:3 full screen and Dolby 2.0 stereo, and extras on the Crank Yankers set include an exclusive behind-the-scenes mini-documentary. List price has been set at $26.95 apiece.

Rounding out the Paramount TV on DVD lineup is Dora The Explorer: Dora's Fairytale Adventure. Presented in 4:3 full screen and Dolby 2.0 stereo, extras include two bonus episodes. Retail will be $19.95.

Bring home an Oscar, and look what happens? Hitting DVD on October 5th from New Line Home Entertainment, it is the third in the "hit" Iron Eagle series, Iron Eagle III: Aces, starring Best Supporting Actor winner Louis Gossett, Jr. Also hitting DVD on the 5th are two more action sequels, Detonator II: Night Watch and Live Wire: Human Timebomb. All will receive the anamorphic widescreen transfers, Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1 surround tracks, and on Iron Eagle III, the original theatrical trailer. Retail? $19.95 a pop.

From the "How many times are they gonna release this movie?" department, it is the third go-round for Kevin Smith's indie favorite Clerks: 10th Anniversary Edition, which will street on September 7th from Buena Vista Home Entertainment. This three-disc behemoth includes the theatrical cut and the original unrated version, both presented in remastered anamorphic widescreen and Dolby 5.1, plus tons of extras: audio commentary with Smith, Scott Mosier, Walter Flanagan, Brian O'Halloran, Jason Mewes, Vincent Pereira and Malcolm Ingram on both versions, the "Snowball Effect" and "Mae Day: The Crumbling Of A Documentary" documentaries, an animated deleted scene, the original unaired Clerks TV pilot, "Flying Car" short film, a 10th anniversary Q&A, audition tapes, music videos, a still gallery, trailers and TV spots, and ROM exclusives including original Kevin Smith Journals, the "ABC's Of No-Budget Filmmaking" and "Learning From Low-Budgets" features, and more. Retail will be $34.95.

Also getting the re-release treatment on September 7th is Rounders, the little-seen Matt Damon and Edward Norton drama. Remastered in 2.35;1 anamorphic widescreen, extras include two audio commentaries, with director John Dahl, screenwriters David Levien and Brian Koppelman, and Norton, and the second with a team of professional Poker players, the original making-of and "How to Play Poker" featurettes, a "Heads Up Texas Hold 'Em" interactive game, and theatrical trailers. List price goes for $19.95.
