'Man on Fire' SE; 'Taking Lives' uncut; 'Highwayman,' 'Twilight Zone'
Nice Guys Don't Explode - 12:01am

One of sleepers of the spring, the Tony Scott-directed thriller Man On Fire will hit DVD on September 14th. Starring Oscar winner Denzel Washington, Fox Home Entertainment will give the flick a 2.40:1 anamorphic transfer and Dolby and DTS 5.1 surround tracks, plus an audio commentary with producer Lucas Foster, screenwriter Brian Helgeland and actress Dakota Fanning, and theatrical trailers. Retail will list for $29.95.

Quick Pro Quo - 12:01am

In the "tradition of Silence of the Lambs" comes the box office disappointment Taking Lives. Starring Angeline Jolie and Ethan Hawke, Warner Home Video will unleash the film in separate R-rated and unrated versions, the latter featuring six minutes of never-before-seen erotic footage. Presented in 2.40:1 anamorphic widescreen and Dolby Digital 5.1 surround, extras include "The Art of Collaboration," "Profiling a Director: D.J. Caruso," "Bodies of Evidence" and "Puzzle Within the Puzzle" featurettes, deleted scenes, a gag reel and theatrical trailers. Retail will be $27.95.

The Hitcher - 12:01am

Speaking of box office bombs, the latest from Hitcher director Robert Harmon, The Highwayman, barely played in a dozen theaters this past winter, but may find a small cult audience on DVD. Debuting on August 24th from New Line Home Entertainment, this scary road movie stars Jesus himself, Jim Caviezel, and will feature 2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen and 4:3 full screen options, Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1 surround tracks, and the theatrical trailer. List price will go for $26.95.

Also just announced from New Line is the DVD debut of the latest incarnation of the classic television series The Twilight Zone. Hosted by actor Forest Whitaker, this "edgy, fast-paced anthology" redux did not last all that long on UPN, but will hit DVD in a six-disc box set featuring all 43 episodes presented in 4:3 full screen with Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1 surround options. There will be no extras except episode info, retail will cost you $59.95, and street date is set for September 7th.
