On September 7th, Lion's Gate Home Entertainment will unleash
The Punisher, the latest Marvel comics adaptation
to hit the big screen. While not a box office hit, Lion's Gate
will give the flick the special edition treatment, complete with
an anamorphic widescreen transfer and Dolby Digital 5.1 surround
track, plus four featurettes ("War Journal: On the Set of
The Punisher," "Army of One," "Drawing Blood"
and "Keepin' It Real"), deleted scenes and theatrical
trailers. Retail will be $27.95.

This September, Warner Home Video will release two highly-acclaimed
TV on DVD releases, each making their debut on the format.
Due on September 7th, Without a Trace: The Complete First
Season will be presented in 4:3 full screen and Dolby
Digital 2.0 surround, and include plenty of extras: audio commentary
on the pilot episode, a new Director's Cut of the final episode
"Fallout," 26 minutes of additional deleted scenes,
and "The Motive" and "Fingerprints" featurettes.
Retail will be $59.95.
Next up on September 21st is The Wire: The Complete First
Season. Also presented in 4:3 full screen and Dolby 5.1
and 2.0 surround, extras include audio commentary with series
creator David Simon, writer George Pelecanos, and director Clark
Johnson on three episodes, plus a Season 2 preview and episode
recaps. List price? $99.95.
Dead Can Dance - 3:32pm
Universal Studios Home Video has just announced the arrival of
Dawn of the Dead, the hit remake which make its
DVD debut on October 5th in no less than four configurations.
Set for release in both R-rated and Unrated Director's Cut version
(the latter running 9 minutes longer than the theatrical release),
each with separate anamorphic widescreen and full screen options,
all include Dolby Digital 5.1 surround tracks, audio commentary
with director Zack Snyder and producer Eric Newman, "The
Lost Tape: Andy's Terrifying Last Days Revealed" exclusive
short film, the "Special Bulletin: We Interrupt This Program!"
and "Surviving the Dawn" featurettes and theatrical
trailers. The theatrical version will also include the deleted
scenes from the Director's Cut as a supplement, while the unrated
releases will also boast the "Raising the Dead," "Attack
of the Living Dead" and "Splitting Headaches: Anatomy
of Exploding Heads" featurette and PC enhanced extras to
be announced. Retail is $29.95 any way you slice it.
