Live
and Let Die - 12:48pm
Everybody's favorite pint-sized James Bond is back in Agent
Cody Banks 2: Destination London. MGM Home Entertainment
will release the sequel on July 13th as a special edition that
includes both 2.40 anamorphic widescreen and 4:3 full screen transfers,
a Dolby Digital 5.1 soundtrack, "Spy on the Set" visual
cast commentary, "Back in Action" featurette, deleted
scenes, an interactive trivia game and theatrical trailers. Retail
will be $26.95.
Invasion of the Housewife Snatchers - 12:48pm
Just in time for the big-budget theatrical remake on June 12th,
Paramount Home Entertainment will re-issue the original creepy
classic The Stepford Wives on June 15th. (Yes,
that is a Monday - perhaps the Stepford Executives have taken
over Paramount?) Previously released not once but twice on DVD
by Anchor Bay, those versions are now discontinued, and Paramount's
new release will include an anamorphic widescreen transfer, Dolby
Digital mono soundtrack, "The Stepford Life" featurette,
radio spots and the theatrical trailer. List price will be $14.95.
Party All Night - 12:48pm
Want more scary fun this summer? How about the return of The
Lost Boys, the barometer of all that was hip in 80's
vampire chic? (Yes, there once was a time when kids thought the
two Coreys were cool.) At last getting the two-disc special edition
treatment, Warner Home Video will release the Joel Schumacher
cult fave on August 10th. Newly remastered in 2.35:1 anamorphic
widescreen and Dolby Digital 5.1, there will be plenty of extras
to sink your teeth into: audio commentary by Schumacher, multi-angle
video commentary with Corey Haim, Corey Feldman and Jamison Newlander,
"The Lost Boys: A Retrospective" documentary, seven
additional featurettes ("Inside the Vampire's Cave,"
"A Director's Vision," "Comedy vs. Horror,"
"Fresh Blood: A New Look at Vampires," "Vamping
Out: The Undead Creations of Greg Cannom," "Haimster
& Feldog: The Story of the Two Coreys" and "The
Lost Boys Sequel?"), deleted scenes, the INXS "Good
Times" music video and theatrical trailers. Retail for all
this bloodletting? Only $26.95.
Also due to scare the wits out of you on the 10th are four more
great Warner special editions. Each includes remastered transfers
in the films' respective theatrical aspect ratios, theatrical
trailers and a list price of $19.95 a pop, plus additional extras:
Dead Ringer (commentary by actor and playwright
Charles Busch and "Bette Davis Speaks" author Boze Hadleigh,
and "Double Take: Bette vs. Bette" and vintage "Behind-the-Scenes
at the Doheny Mansion" featurettes); the camp classic The
Bad Seed (commentary by Patty McCormack and Busch, plus
the "Enfant Terrible: A Conversation with Patty McCormack"
featurette); a double-feature of the original Village
of the Damned and Children of the Damned
(featuring commentaries by "Chronicles of Terror: Silent
Screams" author Steve Haberman on the former, and screenwriter
John Briley on the latter); and the long-awaited DVD premiere
of Tod Browning's notorious Freaks (with an optional
theatrical reissue prologue, three alternate endings, "Freaks:
Sideshow Cinema" documentary, and commentary by David J.
Skal, author of "Dark Carnival: The Secret World of Tod Browning,
Hollywood's Master of the Macabre"). August can't come soon
enough...
