New Columbia July titles; 'The Big Bounce' remake; Paramount summer fun

Kicking off today's news is the latest from Columbia TriStar Home Entertainment, who have just announced their July 6th lineup of new and catalog releases.

A Golden Globe nominee for Best Foreign Film, Monsieur Ibrahim will come to DVD in anamorphic widescreen and Dolby Digital 5.1, plus an audio commentary with star Omar Sharif and bonus trailers. Retail will be $29.95.

Up next are four new catalog titles making their DVD debuts. The comedies Side Out and Wholly Moses each get the anamorphic widescreen treatment, while the rap dramas Fly by Night and The Show will be presented in full screen only. All feature Dolby 2.0 surround tracks (except Wholly Moses, which is 2.0 stereo only) and trailers. List price will be $19.95 a pop.

Jet Fuel - 3:29pm

Just in from Paramount Home Entertainment are two new TV on DVD announcements. Joining their July 20th lineup is Miss Lettie & Me, the recent telefilm starring Mary Tyler Moore and Burt Reynolds(!), as well as the DVD debut of the Nickelodeon favorite Rocket Power: Island of the Menehune, which features four episodes. Each is presented in 4:3 full screen and Dolby 2.0 stereo, and neither includes extras. Retail will be $19.95 and $16.95, respectively.

Paramount has also just released a preview of what to expect come August, including the recent theatrical releases Twisted, The Reckoning and The Prince & Me, along with the new-to-DVD catalog releases The Black Orchid, Desire Under the Elms, Broadway Bill, The Country Girl, The Rose tattoo, Come Back Little Sheba, Riding High and The White Dawn. Stay tuned for full specs early next month.

The Con is On - 3:29pm

Rounding out today's news is the latest from Warner Home Video, who have just announced the 2004 remake of Elmore Leonard's The Big Bounce. Streeting on July 1st, the box office bomb will be released in separate 2.40:1 anamorphic widescreen and full screen versions, each with a Dolby Digital 5.1 track, "The Con: Making The Big Bounce" featurette, outtakes and theatrical trailers. Retail will be $27.95.

Due on August 24th is Jane Austen: The Complete Collection, a six-disc box set featuring the BBC productions of Emma, Mansfield Park, Northanger Abbey, Persuasion, Pride and Prejudice and Sense and Sensibility. Each will presented in its original 4:3 full screen aspect ratio and Dolby 2.0 stereo. There are no announced extras, and retail will be $59.95 for the box set or $14.95 a pop for each individual title (except Northanger Abbey, which will only be available in the collection).
