'Drama Queen,' more Disney; 'Star Trek Voyager'; new Fox classics

Drama Queen Diaries - 2:47pm

So much drama, so little time. On July 20th, Buena Vista Home Entertainment will release the recent teen comedy Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen, starring Freaky Friday's Lindsay Lohan. Featuring both THX-certified 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen and full screen transfers and a Dolby Digital 5.1 surround track, extras include an audio commentary with director Sara Sugarman, writer Gail parent and producers Robert Shapiro and Jerry Leider, the "Confessions from the Set" featurette, Lohan's "That Girl" music video and theatrical trailers. Retail will be $29.95.

Due two weeks later on August 3rd is another teen fave, a new two-disc special edition of The Princess Diaries. This $100 million-plus hit will get THX-certified 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen and full screen transfers, a Dolby Digital 5.1 surround track, an audio commentary with director Garry Marshall plus a second "The Ultimate Tea Party" commentary with stars Julie Andrews and Anne Hathaway, the "A New Princess" Behind-The-Scenes," "Livin' Like A Princess: Explore The Lives Of Real Princesses" and "Behind the Scenes Sneak Peek of The Princess Diaries 2" featurettes, 8 deleted scenes, never-before-seen bloopers, a still gallery, "Miracles Happen" and "Super Girl" music videos, and theatrical trailers. List price will go for $29.95.

Last but not least we have the Herbie: The Love Bug - Four Film Collection, due June 1st. Featuring the two-disc collector's edition of the first Herbie released last year, this box set will also include Herbie Goes To Monte Carlo, Herbie Rides Again and Herbie Goes Bananas. Unlike the first film, the sequels will be relatively extra-less aside from stills, vintage behind-the-scenes footage and trailers. Retail for the box will be $65.95.

To Boldly Go... - 2:47pm

The crew of the Starship Enterprise is back in Star Trek: Voyager Season 3, which Paramount Home Entertainment will release on July 8th. Another lavish seven-disc set, this one again includes remastered 4:3 full screen transfers and Dolby Digital 5.1 surround tracks, plus six featurettes: "Braving The Unknown: Season 3," "Voyager Time Capsule - Neelix," "Voyager Time Capsule - Kes," "Flashback To Flashback," "Red Alert - Amazing Visual Effects" and "Real Science with Andre Bormanis." The set will also include additional "Lost Transmissions" interviews plus collectible packaging. Retail will be $139.95.

Serpent's Nest - 2:47pm

Rounding out today's news is the latest from Fox Home Entertainment. Hitting DVD on June 1st is the next in Fox Studio Classics line, the favorite The Snake Pit. Remastered in 1.33:1 and Dolby 2.0 stereo, extras include audio commentary with film historian Aubrey Solomon, five newsreels, a still gallery and theatrical trailers. Retail will be a mere $14.95.

On June 1st the studio will also release the third wave in their Cinema Latino collection. This latest batch includes: City Of No Limits, Gurreros, City of No Limits, Warriors and Fausto 5.0. Each is presented in their original aspect ratio and Spanish soundtracks, although extras are slim - only trailers. Retail will be $19.95 a pop.
