Kicking off this week's news is the announcement of the highly-acclaimed
but little seen survivalist drama Touching the Void.
One of the most gripping if terrifying films in recent memory,
this tale of two mountain climbers' harrowing journey to safety
will hit DVD on June 15th from MGM Home Entertainment. PResented
in anamorphic widescreen and Dolby Digital 5.1, extras include
the "Return to Siula Grande" and "What Happened
Next?" featurettes, testimonials from real-life climbers
Joe Simpson and Simon Yates and theatrical trailers, retail will
be $29.95.
In Love and War - 1:18pm
Just in from Fox Home Entertainment is the announcement of the
recent, little-seen war drama To End all Wars,
starring Kiefer Sutherland and Robert Carlyle. Fox will release
the flick on June 15th, complete with an anamorphic widescreen
transfer, Dolby Digital 5.1 surround track, audio commentary by
director David Cunningham, a documentary and trailers. Retail
will be $27.95.
Spy
Who Loved Me - 1:18pm
Rounding out today's news is Paramount Home Entertainment's July
lineup of new catalog releases, which will focus on classic spy
thrillers and hit 80's comedies.
On July 6th comes the laugh-fests Big-Top Pee Week,
Crazy People, First Monday in October,
Critical Condition and Nora Ephron's Heartburn,
starring Jack Nicholson and Meryl Streep. Each is presented in
anamorphic widescreen and Dolby 2.0 surround (except Heartburn,
which is in Dolby 5.1). There are no extras, and retail will be
$14.95 a pop.
And for you spy fans, on July 13th comes a wave of four classics
of the genre: The Assassination Bureau, The
Counterfeit Traitor, Danger Diabolik
and The Spy Who Came in From the Cold. Each is
also presented in anamorphic widescreen and Dolby 2.0, with no
extras, not even trailers. Retail will also list for $14.95 each.
