Stitch in Time - 2:13pm
Just in from New Line Home Entertainment is the latest addition
to their Infinifilm line, the Ashton Kutcher thriller The
Butterfly Effect. A mid-level hit at the box office this
past winter, New Line will pull out all of the stops for the DVD,
which includes both the original theatrical cut and a new Director's
Cut on the same disc. Each will be presented in 1.85:1 anamorphic
widescreen and Dolby Digital Surround EX (the Director's Cut also
provides a DTS 6.1 ES option), and include a plethora of extras:
the Infinifilm version of each flick, "Beyond the Movie"
features ("The Science and Psychology of the Chaos Theory"
and "History and Allure of Time Travel" featurettes
and a subtitle trivia fact track), "All Access Pass"
extras (audio commentary with director and screenwriter Eric Bress
and J. Mackye Gruber, deleted scenes, "The Creative Process"
and "Visual Effects" featurettes, a storyboard gallery
and theatrical trailers) and extensive DVD-ROM content that is
MCE-enhanced for playback on Windows Media Center PCs (ScriptViewer
for the Director's Cut, a commentary digest, still gallery, scene
medleys and weblinks). Retail for the set will be $27.95.
Some Kind of 'Monster' - 2:13pm
Who thought beauty and the beast could be the same person? Featuring
Chalize Theron's amazing, transformative and Oscar-winning performance,
Monster, the story of real-life serial killer
Aileen Wuornos, will come to DVD on June 1st. Columbia TriStar
Home Entertainment has picked up DVD distribution rights to one
of last year's biggest indie hits, and will give the flick an
anamorphic widescreen transfer and Dolby Digital 5.1 surround
track, and also include a making-of featurette, an interview with
filmmaker Patty Jenkins and composer Brian Transeau and theatrical
trailers. Retail will be $26.95.

At last coming to DVD, the groundbreaking Canadian sketch-comedy
show SCTV Network 90: Volume 1 is due for release
on June 8th. Collecting the first nine 90-minute episodes that
ran on NBC in 1981 (the show originally aired beginning in 1976
as a 30-minute show), each episode will be presented in remastered
4:3 full screen and Dolby Digital 2.0 stereo. Extras include audio
commentaries on each episode with cast members Joe Flaherty and
Eugene Levy; the "SCTV Remembers," "Origins of
SCTV," "The Craft of SCTV" and "Remembering
John" featurettes, HBO's 1999 "SCTV Reunion" special
hosted by Conan O'Brien, and a 24-page booklet with rare photos
and essays by O'Brien, SCTV producer Andrew Alexander and journalist
Don Waller, plus tributes by Ben Stiller, Fred Willard, Dan Aykroyd
and Dr. John. List price will be $89.95.
