'Cold Mountain'; 'Cruel Intentions 3,' 'Underworld' SE; Paramount TV on DVD

Mountains & Molehills - 12:35pm

Poised as a sure-fire Oscar contender last fall, Miramax's Cold Mountain failed to reap Academy gold, but did pull in nearly $100 million at the domestic box office. Buena Vista Home Entertainment will release Anthony Minghella's epic drama on June 29th as a two-disc special edition. The set features a 1.85 anamorphic widescreen transfer with Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS soundtracks, plus two audio commentary tracks with Minghella, actors Jude Law and Nicole Kidman and film editor Walter Murch, the "Climbing Cold Mountain" documentary and "A Journey to Cold Mountain" featurette, deleted scenes, "Words & Music of Cold Mountain" live performances from UCLA's Royce Hall, additional interviews, a storyboard-to-film comparison and theatrical trailers. Retail will be $29.95.

Little Darlings - 12:35pm

Just in from Columbia TriStar Home Entertainment are another batch and of new and catalog releases debuting on May 25th. Just when you thought it was safe to go back to prep school, those spoiled little brats return in Cruel Intentions 3, starring Dawson's Creek' s Kerr Smith. While I'm sure the world didn't need yet another sequel to a movie no one much cared about in the first place, this direct-to-DVD drama will feature a 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer, Dolby Digital 5.1 surround track, featurette and bonus trailers. List price will go for $24.95.

Also making its DVD debut on the 25th is the Fred Astaire favorite You've Never Been Lovelier, costarring Rita Hayworth. Remastered in its original 1.33:1 full screen and Dolby mono, there are no extras aside from bonus trailers, and retail will be $24.95.

Last but not least we have another Columbia double-dipper, a new two-disc special edition of the sci-fi hit Underworld, which will be presented here for the first time in a new Director's Cut. In addition to an anamorphic widescreen transfer and Dolby Digital 5.1 surround track (there is no DTS option), extras include an audio commentary by director Len Wiseman and cast Kate Beckinsdale and Scott Speedman, the "Look of Underworld," "Visual Effects," "Fangs and Fiction" and "Designing Underworld" featurettes, outtakes and trailers. Retail will cost you $34.95.

Meet Joe Schmo - 12:35pm

Rounding out today's news is two new TV on DVD releases from Paramount Home Entertainment. Due on June 22nd is the Spike TV reality hit The Joe Schmo Show: Season One Uncensored! Presented in its original 4:3 full screen and Dolby 2.0 stereo, extras include the "Much Talked About, Mind-Blowing Finale in Which Matt Finally Discovers "The Truth!", an audio commentary from executive producer Rhett Reese and Matt Kennedy Gould, never-before-seen "Eviction Ceremony" interviews, an extended and unblurred "Chocolate Sauce On Models" sequence and deleted scenes. Retail will be $49.95.

And also due in stores on the 22nd is Reno 911: The Complete First Season. Featuring 4:3 full screen and Dolby 2.0 surround tracks, this two-disc set will also feature an audio commentary from the entire cast and alternate scenes. Retail will cost you $24.95.
