'Lon Chaney Collection'; 'Young Sherlock Holmes'; 'SCTV'; Fox classics

One of history's most amazing movie magicians, illusionist Lon Chaney will finally get the deluxe treatment on October 28th courtesy of Warner Home Video. The Lon Chaney Collection will be a two-disc set that includes three of his best silent classics: The Ace of Hearts, Laugh Clown Laugh and The Unknown. Each is presented in 1.33:1 full screen and newly-remixed Dolby 2.0 stereo tracks, and extras include audio commentaries by Chaney expert and makeup artist Michael F. Blake, the documentary "A Thousand Faces," and a reconstruction of the unfinished feature London After Midnight. Retail is $39.95.

Just in from Fox Home Entertainment are two new family-friendly releases due just in time for the holidays. The latest in Fox's Studio Classics series, November 4th will see the release of the perennial favorite Laura. Presented in a newly remastered 1.37:1 full screen and 2.0 stereo, extras include two audio commentaries with David Raskin and Janine Basinger and the second with Rudy Behlmer, the Biography special with Gene Tierney and Vincent Price, a restoration comparison, MovieTone newsreel, still gallery and trailers. Retail is $19.95.

Also due for release on the 4th is the charming 1950 holiday comedy A Christmas Wish, presented in 1.37:1 full screen in both colorized and B&W versions, plus a newly-remixed Dolby Digital 5.1 surround track. Extras include an audio commentary by Terry Moore and trailers. Retail is $14.95.
