I know many of you out there take your anime very seriously, so forgive me.
But will I risk a pile of hate mail if I say that I can't help
but laugh at anything actually called Cowboy Bebop: The Movie?
Ah, well, decide for yourselves on June 24th when Columbia TriStar
Home Entertainment releases a special edition of this anime favorite.
Presented in 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen, the set includes Japanese
and English 5.1 Dolby Digital options, "The Making of Cowboy
Bebop," a collection of six featurettes, conceptual art galleries,
still galleries, 2 music videos, in-depth character profiles and
trailers. Retail is $27.95.
From the Columbia catalog comes two more titles on the 24th:
The Best of the Steve Harvey Show, a single-disc collection
of five of the highest-rated episodes of series, each presented
in full screen and 2.0 stereo. There are no other extras, and
retail is $19.95. Also on tap is The Long Ships, making
its DVD debut. The flick is presented in anamorphic widescreen
with English, French, Japanese and Korean mono tracks, plus trailers.
Retail is $24.95.
Last but not least are the full specs for the recent Bruce Willis
tank-a-roo Tears of the Sun. This one streets on June 10th
and features an anamorphic widescreen transfer, English 5.1 Dolby
surround track, audio commentary with director Antoine Fuqua,
a subtitle fact track, the featurettes "Writer's Observations,"
"The Making of Tears of the Sun" and "Voices of
Africa," deleted scenes, interactive map of Africa and trailers.
Retail is $27.95.

Just in from Warner Home Video are more late summer announce
dates for a batch of highly-anticipated catalog favorites. Fans
of the Griswolds can finally add the 20th Anniversary Edition
of National Lampoon's Vacation to their shelves on August
19th. No details yet, but we've got an interview coming up with
director Harold Ramis, so stay tuned for more later this week.
Also debuting on the 19th is The Iron Giant: Special Edition,
and retail for both of the above is $19.95 each.
Up next on September 23rd are four more volumes of X-Men:
Evolution (UnXpected Changes, X-Marks the Spot, Xplosive Days,
and Xposing the Truth). Retail is $14.95 each, and stay tuned
for specs.
And for you Clint Eastwood fans, Warner will debut seven more
additions to the Clint Eastwood Collection on September 2nd. All
come with new anamorphic widescreen transfers, 5.1 Dolby Digital
surround tracks and trailers: City Heat, Honkytonk Man,
Pink Cadillac, The Rookie, Tightrope, Where
Eagles Dare, and White Hunter, Black Heart. Retail
is $19.95 each.
Rounding out all this good stuff is the full press
release for Warner's The Charlie Chaplin Collection,
the first four titles of which - Limelight, Great Dictator, Modern
Times and The Gold Rush - streeting on July 1st. These two-disc,
fully remastered special editions look terrific, so check out
