It may not have snagged all the Oscar nominations that is could
have (and should have), but Todd Haynes' highly-acclaimed Far
from Heaven is likely to be remembered long after the Oscar's
golden glow has faded. Universal Studios Home Video will debut
the melodrama on April 1st, in 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen with
Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1 surround tracks, an audio commentary
by Haynes, a making-of and "Anatomy of a Scene" featurettes,
the "Filmmaker's Experience" Q&A with Haynes, filmographies,
and trailers. Retail is $26.95.
Also just announced from Universal is The Fast and The Furious
Tricked Out Edition. Largely promo fluff to flog the upcoming
sequel 2 Fast, 2 Furious (seriously, that's what it's called),
this single-disc reissue will debut on June 3rd. Available in
separate 2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen and full screen versions,
both include Dolby Digital 5.1 surround tracks, "The Road
2 Fast 2 Furious" featurette starring Paul Walker, a behind
the scenes peek at "2 Fast 2 Furious," video vignettes
including never before seen stunts, a transformation of stock
car to customized car, hot car casting for "2 Fast 2 Furious,"
and a making of the video game, plus filmographies and trailers.
Retail is $26.95.

Columbia TriStar Home Entertainment has just announced the full

The People vs. Larry Flynt. Debuting on May 13th, the film

5.1 surround, with plenty of new extras: two audio commentaries
with cast Woody Harrelson, Edward Norton and Courtney Love, and
the writers Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski, deleted scenes
with optional commentary, the featurettes "Free Speech or
Porn?" and "Larry Flynt Exposed," and trailers.
Retail is $29.95.
Win Ben Stiller's money - 12:00am
At long last for comedy fans, Warner Home Video will release
the entire run of The Ben Stiller Show on June 3rd. While
a huge cult favorite, the show never quite became a ratings success.
Now, judge for yourself with this two disc-set, which includes
every episode presented in 4:3 full screen and Dolby 2.0 stereo,
plus a featurette, interviews and promo spots. Retail is $34.95.
Street date alert - 12:00am
Rounding out today's news are a couple of new street dates form
Paramount Home Entertainment. While it didn't exactly light the
box office on fire (okay, it totally tanked), Paramount will debut
a special edition of the action thriller Extreme Ops on
May 6th, along with the drama The Way Home. Stay tuned
for specs...
