Who shelved Roger Rabbit? - 12:08am
As Who Framed Roger Rabbit? fans are painfully aware,
after news surfaced late last year that Disney was finally beginning
work on a long-in-coming Vista Series special edition of the Robert
Zemeckis blockbuster, the anticipation began...and so did the
wait. Months later, and with still no such release in sight, what's
up with this forever in-development, highly sought-after release?
Sources say that after much jockey for the job among the leading
industry production outfits, the project fell into "development
hell," or at least until now. According to Video Premieres Magazine,
the set is finally back on track for a 2003 release, with Disney
giving the job to longtime Spielberg producer Laurent Bouzereau.
Video Premieres also reports that B1 Media will be handling the
extensive menu and authoring chores, and the set is still slated
to receive the Vista Series two-disc treatment. Stay tuned!
Unhappy campers - 12:08am
Ah, leave it to the good ol' Red Cross to not take to kindly
to the spoils of being a camp counselor! Just released last month,
Anchor Bay's tongue-in-cheek Sleepaway Camp Survival Kit
will be getting a cover art change due to a complaint from the
Red Cross over the oft-recognizable symbol on the old cover art.
Once current supplies of the set have been sold, all future pressings
will include a new design. Guess I better prep my copy for eBay,
eh?

Rounding out today's news, check out these recently updated websites
for the latest on two much-anticipated upcoming releases. Universal
has just updated their official Back to the Future DVD website
with a six-minute peek at the various supplements to be included
on the upcoming 3-disc DVD set. Cool stuff, so check it out.
Also just launched is the brand new Orgazmo DVD website,
with tons of great flash animation, video clips, and more. Alas,
a street date for this long-in-coming special edition is still
not known; originally set for release by USA Home Entertainment
last spring, it's now in Universal's hands, but no word as of
yet. So check out the site in the meantime, and stay tuned!
