'Spirit' arrives; Streisand box and 'Babylon 5' details

Stallion of the Cimarron - 12:01am

Fresh off of a successful run in theaters to the tune of $80-plus million, DreamWorks has announced a 11/19 street date for the animated hit Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron. Available in both 2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen and full screen editions with English 5.1 Dolby surround tracks, extras include an audio commentary with filmmakers Kelly Asbury, Lorna Cook and Mireille Soria, a making-of featurette, production notes, and trailers. The release will also showcase extensive ROM extras a la last year's huge DVD seller Shrek, including the DWK (DreamWorks' Kids) "This Way To Play" area, a "virtual playground" including the interactive games "Horse Sense," "Frontier Find" and "Nickname Maker," the "Spirit’s Make-A-Movie Studio" allowing kids the opportunity to arrange a timeline by clicking and dragging to create new adventures for characters from the film, a growth chart, downloadable Spirit calendar, color game, and more. There is no list price for the title, but MAP (Minimum Advertised Price) is $19.95.

Babylon in a box - 12:01am

Also announced from Warner are details on the highly-anticipated Babylon 5: The Complete First Season - Signs and Portents. Look for 1.78:1 anamorphic widescreen transfers, introduction and audio commentary by the series creator J. Michael Straczynski (exact episodes not specified) and "The Making of Babylon 5: Season One" featurette. Retail is $99.96 for the set.
