Spy Kids specs Surprisingly for such a big hit ($100 million+ at the domestic box office alone) Buena Vista has issued the specs on their website for Spy Kids, and there is little in the way of extras to be found. The disc is listed as retailing for $29.95 and includes a 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer, English, French and Spanish 5.1 surround tracks, English Closed Captions and the theatrical trailer. And that's it. Hopefully, Buena Vista will add more to the disc before its release on 9/18...? Street date alert Now, the title you've all been waiting for. New Line has announced a 10/2 arrival date for what has been called the biggest bomb in box office history, Town & Country. After years on the shelf, New Line released the film last year to terrible reviews and a complete lack of audience interest. Grossing less than $10 million on a reported $80+ million budget, even Ishtar made more money. And shockingly enough, this will not be an Infinifilm release! Stay tuned for specs...
Pull another one down from the "most requested" list. Warner has just announced a 11/6 release date for David Lean's wartime epic Doctor Zhivago. This two-disc set comes loaded with extra features, and this upcoming Christmas season is certainly going to be a golden era for DVD! Check out the press release for the full specs. Flaming feet Universal seems intent on scaring me to death this October... first the Cats Ultimate Edition, now this. On 10/30 - one day before Halloween - Universal will release Michael Flatley Gold, a greatest hits compilation of Michael's best moments. As a rare bonus to consumers, "Michael tells the story, in his own words, of his phenomenal career in an intimate and revealing interview and, for the first time, opens up his personal photo album to reveal rare film footage to the viewer." Sounds pretty terrifying. Retail is $24.95. But that's not all, Riverdance fans. On 10/30 Universal will also release (for the first time ever on DVD!) Michael Flatley's Feet Of Flames. The disc also includes a Flatley bio, and retail is also $24.95. No video or audio specs are available, but stay tuned! Also, we got a confirm that the upcoming Blood Simple release this September will indeed be the new "director's cut," the disc just won't have any notable supplements. Retail is $24.95 and street date 9/18. Just in time for Christmas, Fox will release two biblical epics on 10/16, The Robe and The Bible. Both get anamorphic widescreen transfers, with The Robe being presented in its original CinemaScope glory. Extras are slim - only trailers and filmographies - but retail is just $19.95. Fox has also unveiled the box art for The French Connection Collection set, which looks pretty cool. Click on the image for a blowup. More Trek at Comic Con Hey, Star Trek fans, don't miss this weekend's Comic Con convention in San Diego, being held July 19 through July 22.
