Tom Clancy and one with cinematographer John Lindley, as well

on the visual effects - and the theatrical trailer.
Based on Tom Clancy's bestseller, directed by John
McTiernan (Die Hard) and starring Sean Connery (Entrapment) and
Alec Baldwin (Pearl Harbor), THE HUNT FOR RED OCTOBER (1990) sweats
with high-tech anxiety and the tension of men who hold Doomsday
in their hands. A new technologically-superior Soviet nuclear
sub, the Red October, is heading for the U.S. coast under the
command of Captain Marko Ramius (Connery). The American government
thinks Ramius is planning to attack. A lone CIA analyst (Baldwin)
has a different idea: he thinks Ramius is planning to defect,
but he has only a few hours to find him and prove it - because
the entire Russian naval and air commands are trying to find him,
too. The hunt is on!
Harrison Ford stars as Jack Ryan in PATRIOT GAMES
(1992), an explosive thriller based on Tom Clancy's international
best-seller. His days as an intelligence agent behind him, former
CIA analyst Jack Ryan has traveled to London to vacation with
his wife (Anne Archer, Fatal Attraction) and child (Thora Birch,
American Beauty). Meeting his family outside of Buckingham Palace,
Ryan is caught in the middle of a terrorist attack on Lord Holmes
(James Fox, The Russia House), a member of the Royal Family. Ryan
helps to thwart Holmes' assailants and becomes a local hero. But
Ryan's courageous act marks him as a target in the sights of the
terrorist (Sean Bean, Ronin) whose brother he killed. Now Ryan
must return to action for the most vital assignment of his life:
to save his family. The film also stars James Earl Jones (The
Hunt For Red October) as CIA Admiral James Greer.
In CLEAR AND PRESENT DANGER (1994), Harrison Ford
(K-19: The Widowmaker) returns as intrepid CIA agent Jack Ryan.
When his mentor, Admiral Greer (James Earl Jones), becomes gravely
ill, Ryan is appointed acting CIA Deputy Director of Intelligence.
His first assignment: investigate the murder of one of the President's
friends, a prominent U.S. businessman with secret ties to Colombian
drug cartels. Unbeknownst to Ryan, the CIA has already dispatched
a deadly field operative (Willem Dafoe, Spider-Man) to lead a
paramilitary force against the Colombian drug lords. Caught in
the crossfire, Ryan takes matters into his own hands, risking
his career and life for the only cause he still believes in --
the truth.
In THE SUM OF ALL FEARS (2002), CIA analyst Jack
Ryan (Ben Affleck, Changing Lanes) specializes in Russian political
history. When an unknown figure named Nemerov (Ciaran Hinds, Road
to Perdition) unexpectedly becomes the president of Russia, CIA
chief William Cabot (Morgan Freeman, Along Came A Spider) looks
to Ryan for advice. While Ryan believes Nemerov to be a man of
peace, the U.S. President (James Cromwell, Space Cowboys) and
his advisers do not agree. So, when one Russian nuclear warhead
is discovered missing, and Nemerov is the only suspect, world
tension escalates, as Ryan must single-handedly uncover who is
behind the conspiracy in order to avert World War III.
The three new Special Collector's Edition DVDs
(THE HUNT FOR RED OCTOBER, PATRIOT GAMES and CLEAR AND PRESENT
DANGER) are priced individually with a suggested retail price
of (S.R.P.) of $19.99 in the U.S. and C$22.99 in Canada. THE JACK
RYAN SPECIAL EDITION DVD COLLECTION box set has no S.R.P. but
is expected to retail at approximately $70-80 (S.R.P.) in the
U.S. and approximately C$100 in Canada. All four DVDs are closed-captioned
for the hearing-impaired.
