announced the release of the box office thriller, Final
Destination, starring dynamic young talent Devon
Sawa (Idle Hands), Ali Larter (Varsity Blues,
House on Haunted Hill), Kerr Smith (TV’s Dawson’s
Creek), Kristen Cloke (TV’s Millennium,
TV’s Space: Above and Beyond), Amanda Detmer
(Boys and Girls, Drop Dead Gorgeous), Seann William
Scott (Road Trip, American Pie) and Chad
E. Donella (Disturbing Behavior, The Long Kiss Goodnight).

A chilling film, in which atmosphere and innuendo play
an integral part in building suspense, Final Destination
is available for rental on Platinum SeriesÔ DVD
and VHS, and for sale on DVD for $24.98, on September
26.
The
thriller begins with Alex Browning (Devon Sawa) embarking
on a trip to Paris with his high school French class.
As the class boards the airplane and Alex takes his
seat, he experiences a powerful premonition. He sees
the plane explode in a fiery blaze moments after take-off.
Panicking, he gets off the plane and insists that everyone
do the same. In the chaos that ensues, six others disembark
the aircraft. Moments later, Alex’s horrific premonition
proves tragically accurate.
Ironically,
even though Alex’s intuition saves lives, after
the crash both guilt and suspicion plague him. Ominous
portents of doom as well as the FBI, dog his every step.
Alex comes to believe that somehow, he and the other
survivors have briefly cheated death, but will not be
able to evade their fate for very long as one by one,
these fugitives from fate fall victim to the grim reaper.
Written
by Jeffrey Reddick, Glen Morgan and James Wong, Final
Destination is directed by Mr. Wong. Mr. Morgan
also produced the film, along with Warren Zide and Craig
Perry.
The
Final Destination Platinum Series' DVD features
the widescreen version of the film, 5.1 surround sound,
2.0 stereo surround sound, filmmaker commentary by James
Wong, Glen Morgan, James Coblentz and Jeffrey Reddick
, 5.1 isolated score with composer commentary by Shirley
Walker, and actor commentary by Devon Sawa, Kerr Smith,
Chad E. Donella and Kristen Cloke. Extra video content
includes animated menus, two deleted scenes, the alternate
ending, the theatrical trailer, and two documentaries:
A Look at Test Screenings and Premonitions.
A Look at Test Screenings shows the filmmakers
and studio executives as they reveal the process of
test marketing and the impact this has on the storyline
of the film. Premonitions will introduce Pam
Coronado, a real life intuitive investigator who uses
her psychic skills to help crime fighters crack unsolved
mysteries. The DVD-ROM content will include the script
to screen screenplay feature and original website.
