The Final Countdown’s Blu-ray Disc release has been postponed one week, from 28 October to 4 November. Blue Underground Entertainment has cited a manufacturing delay for the push, but specs for the release remain intact. The film will arrive with a 1080p transfer, both DTS-HD Master 7.1 and Dolby TrueHD 7.1 tracks, a commentary by cinematographer Victor J. Kemper, two featurettes, and the film’s trailer. SRP is $34.95.















More details have been released for Paramount’s 30 December Blu-ray Disc edition of Days of Thunder. This Tom Cruise actioner will arrive with a 1080p transfer, a Dolby TrueHD 5.1 track, and the film’s theatrical trailer. SRP is $29.99.


















2 December will bring the release of Lower Learning from Anchor Bay. 27 January will bring the Blu-ray Disc release of Vicky Cristina Barcelona from The Weinstein Company and Genius Products. Final specs have been announced for Fox’s 2 December Blu-ray Disc release of Jingle All the Way. This holiday-themed Arnold Schwarzenegger comedy will arrive with a 1.85:1 1080p transfer, a DTS-HD Master 5.1 track, three featurettes, and a set of deleted scenes. SRP is $34.99.

















Sony will release 10 Items or Less: The Complete First and Second Seasons on 30 December. Final specs have been announced for the 18 November release of Doughboys from MTI. 11 November will bring the Buena Vista release of Scrubs: The Complete Seventh Season. This latest release of the acclaimed Zach Braff series will arrive with 1.33:1 transfers, Dolby Digital 5.1 tracks, two featurettes, some deleted scenes, a blooper reel, and a collection of audio commentaries (participants TBD). Full specs have been made for Warner’s 18 November release of 300: Limited Collector’s Edition. This new DVD edition of the hit Gerard Butler film will arrive with an anamorphic widescreen transfer, a Dolby Digital 5.1 track, a commentary by director Zack Snyder, screenwriter Kurt Johnstad and cinematographer Larry Fong, a documentary (To the Hot Gates), five featurettes, some deleted scenes, and a collection of webisodes. 25 November will bring the Sony Music Blu-ray Disc release of Ricky Martin Live: Black & White Tour. This concert film showcasing the energetic work of the internationally popular singer will arrive with a 1080p transfer, but audio specs and bonus features are still TBD. SRP is $24.98.




Final specs have been made available for Warner’s 9 December Blu-ray Disc release of The Mask. This blockbuster starring Jim Carrey will arrive with a 1.85:1 1080p transfer, a Dolby TrueHD 5.1 track, two commentaries (one is by director Charles Russell, ex-New Line chair Bob Shaye, screenwriter Mike Werb, executive producer Mike Richardson, producer Bob Engelman, special effects supervisor Scott Squires, animation supervisor Tom Bertino, and cinematographer John Leonetti; the other is Russell solo), four featurettes, two deleted scenes (with optional director commentary), and the film’s trailer. Fox will release Reba: Season Five on 13 January. This Golden Globe-nominated series starring the amazing Ms. McEntire will see its fifth season arrive with 1.33:1 transfers and stereo tracks. No bonuses will be included. SRP is $29.98.


















The concert Stax is coming to DVD from Infinity Entertainment Group on 18 November. This double-feature documentary featuring a boatload of rare performances from singers like Isaac Hayes, Mavis Staples, and Booker T. Jones will arrive with a 1.33:1 transfer and a stereo track. We have early word that Universal is preparing a 16 December Blu-ray Disc release of The Mummy Trilogy. These three flicks – The Mummy, The Mummy Returns, and The Mummy: The Tomb of the Dragon Emperor – will all have 1080p transfers and DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 tracks, but specs for the edition’s full bonus slate are TBD. SRP is $94.98.
















MVD has announced plans to release The Story of the Yardbirds on 11 November. This look at the influential band whose members included Eric Clapton and Jimmy Page (among others) will arrive with a 1.33:1 transfer, a stereo track, and some bonus concert footage. SRP is $18.95.

















13 January will bring the Buena Vista Blu-ray Disc release of Swing Vote. This election-themed Kevin Costner comedy will arrive with a 2.40:1 1080p transfer, a Dolby TrueHD 5.1 track, a commentary by director Joshua Michael Stern and screenwriter Jason Richman, some deleted scenes (with optional director commentary), and a making-of featurette. 23 December will bring the Blu-ray Disc release of The Women from Warner. Warner will release Any Given Sunday on Blu-ray Disc on 27 January. Warner has announced more specs for their 30 December Blu-ray Disc release of Wedding Crashers. 10 February will bring the Blu-ray Disc release of A History of Violence from Warner. 10 February will bring the Warner release of Amadeus on Blu-ray Disc. 4 November will bring the Blu-ray Disc release of Gunnin’ For That #1 Spot from MVD. This documentary from Beastie Boy Adam Yauch about a group of kids vying for a slot in the Elite 24 high school basketball tournament will arrive with a 1080p transfer; audio specs and bonus features (if any) are still undetermined. HBO will release Generation Kill on Blu-ray Disc on 16 December. This Irag war miniseries will arrive with 1080p transfers and Dolby TrueHD 5.1 tracks, but bonus features have yet to be confirmed. SRP is $79.98.




Warner will release a limited edition DVD of Sex and the City: The Movie on 9 December. This version of the blockbuster film will arrive with an anamorphic widescreen transfer, a Dolby Digital 5.1 track, more than four hours of bonus features, a CD compilation of songs inspired by the film, and an accompanying hardcover photo book.
